Choosing a business name is one of the first big decisions an entrepreneur makes. Besides being memorable, available as a domain and legally safe, many Indian business owners also want the name to be numerologically favourable. Here's how business name numerology works in the Chaldean tradition.
Step 1: Calculate the name number
Write the brand name exactly as customers will see it, on your signboard, logo and website. Convert each letter with the Chaldean chart and add the values.
Example: SHREE TRADERS
S3 H5 R2 E5 E5 = 20; T4 R2 A1 D4 E5 R2 S3 = 21; total 41 → 4+1 = 5.
41 is traditionally considered a fortunate compound number, and 5 is the number of commerce and communication, so this is a promising name for a trading business.
Step 2: Understand what the number suits
- 1: leadership brands, start-ups and anything that wants to be "number one".
- 3: education, consulting, publishing, finance and advisory services.
- 5: trading, marketing, travel, media and communication businesses.
- 6: fashion, beauty, hospitality, interiors, food and luxury goods.
- 8: long-term ventures such as real estate, manufacturing and infrastructure. This number is powerful but slow.
Numbers 4 and 7 are considered less commercial by many numerologists, although they can suit research, technology or spiritual work.
Step 3: Match the owner
A business name should be friendly with the owner's birth number. For partnerships, check the name against each main partner. If one partner's number clashes strongly, a small spelling change or an added word, such as "& Co." or "Enterprises", can bring the total into balance.
Step 4: Keep it practical
- Check domain and trademark availability before you finalise a spelling.
- Avoid strange spellings that hurt search visibility. Customers need to find you on Google.
- Numerology is one factor. Product quality, service and marketing are what really grow a business.
