Numerology isn't only about personality. It can also be used for timing. Your personal year number describes the energy of the current year for you personally, and it moves through a repeating nine-year cycle. Knowing where you are in that cycle can help you decide when to start, when to build and when to let go.
How to calculate it
Add the digits of your birth day, your birth month and the current year, then reduce to one digit.
Example: born 14 June, year 2026 → 1+4 + 6 + 2+0+2+6 = 21 → 2+1 = 3. This person is in a personal year 3 in 2026.
Note: some numerologists change the personal year on your birthday rather than on 1 January. Numara uses the calendar year, which is the more common approach.
The nine-year cycle
| Year | Theme | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | New beginnings | Starting a business, a new job, a move |
| 2 | Patience and partnership | Relationships, teamwork, waiting for results |
| 3 | Expression and joy | Creativity, socialising, marketing |
| 4 | Foundation | Hard work, savings, health routines |
| 5 | Change | Travel, new opportunities, freedom |
| 6 | Home and responsibility | Marriage, family, property |
| 7 | Reflection | Study, research, spiritual growth |
| 8 | Power and money | Promotions, investments, recognition |
| 9 | Completion | Endings, decluttering, forgiveness |
Using it in real life
- In a 1 year, take initiative. Ideas planted now can grow for nine years.
- In a 4 year, don't expect shortcuts. Steady effort pays off later.
- In a 7 year, give yourself permission to slow down and learn.
- In a 9 year, avoid starting big long-term commitments; finish things instead.
Personal month and personal day
You can zoom in further. Add the current month to your personal year number to get your personal month, then add today's date to that to get your personal day. Our Daily Vibes page does this automatically.
